In these images both visible and invisible attributes are revealed by the synthesis of invisible and visible photon imaging techniques. That which is unseen is uncovered by the penetrating, high energy x-rays delivered by a linear accelerator on film. And that which is visible is accessed by the reflected photons of visible light through digital photography. Hence, the spectral entities are fully revealed via the capture of both high and low energies. By combining these technologies into a single image, we can expose the full essence and substance in one photograph. This assigns a reality to the artifact that once was unavailable to the seeker of realms unseen.

The objects photographed are relics collected by my mother during her lifetime travel. These are reminders of both cultural differences and alternate realities. On the surface they are substantially diverse, yet their essential purpose of creation is the same: to distribute and celebrate the uniqueness of humankind.

The images are coffee toned, Piezography inkjet prints on 8.5” x 11” Jon Cone Studio Type 2 archival cotton rag matte paper.

"Nature does not aim at God as end, but God, thinking and willing ends, produces and acts on nature. Soul is not an immateriate essence of an organic body capable, but an immateriate conscious substance within an organic body."

-- The Encyclopaedia Britanica, 1910.
